Happy Mahavir Jayanti

Mahavir Jayanti means the birth anniversay of 24th and the last Tirthankara,Vardhman Mahavir The founder of Jainism.It is the most important religious holiday celebrated mainly by Jainism.Mahavir was one the great prophets and social reformer of India.He was son of King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. It is said that when Mahavir was born ,the god king Indra bathed himself with celestial milk, a ritual marking him as Tirthankar.Mahavir associated himself with many episodes of fearlessness that gave him the name 'Mahavir'.

He always choose to become great human redeemer. Lord Mahavir spread the message of salvation to the world and had many followers. Mahavir left his mortal coils at the age of 71 on Deepawali Day, but the lamp of peace he lit continues to glow throughout the myriads lights of the festivals of light.
Mahavir Jayanti is celeberated by giving a bath ceremonial bath to the  statues of Mahavira and devotees  make offering of rice, milk ,fruits and incense. It is also known as abhisheka.Many Jains go to temple to meditate and offer prayer and some of them engage themselves in different types of charitable act.

Navratri is one the most important hindu festival. During navratri's devotees worship goddess 'Durga'.Navratri come twice in  a year that is in April and in October month.People observe fast for seven/eight and pray nine forms of  goddess 'Durga'.On the eigth or ninth day people do 'Kanya Puja' and devotees offer money and prasad to those nine girls as Dakshina.Along with the nine girls one boy also accompanies.The young boy symbolise 'Bhairav'. The nine days of Navratri are categorized as- 

I. Ghatsthapna: 11April -Dedicated to goddess 'Durga' called 'Shailputri' daughter of Himalayas and form of Shakti.

II. Sindhara Pooja: 12 April-Dedicated to goddess 'Durga' called 'Brahmacharini'  and form of mata shakti.

III.  Gaur Teej: 13 April -Dedicated to goddess 'Chandraghanta' that represents bravery and beauty.

IV. Varadvinayak Chaturthi: 14 April-Dedicated to goddess 'Kushmandas' creater of universe.

V. Sri Laxmi Panchami Vrat, Naag Vrat Pujan: 15 April-Dedicated to goddess 'Skand Mata' the mother of the chief warrior of the Gods army the Skanda.

VI. Skand Shashthi,Yamuna Jayanti:16 April-Dedicated to goddess Katyayni with three eyes and four hands.

VII.  Maha sapatami Vrat, Vijaya Saptami: 17 April- Dedicated to goddess 'Kalratri' that means to make devotees fearless.
VIII. Sri Durga Mahaashtami,Annapurna ashtami: 18 April-Dedicated to 'Gauri Mata'representing peace and exhibits wisdom.
IX.Chaitra Navratri,Ram Navratri: 19 April-Dedicated to goddess 'Durga' and reffered as siddhidatri having all the siddhis.
